Cycling Holidays in Paris

A cycling tour of Paris is an exciting way to take in everything the city it has to offer. Since 2007, the city has provided more than 20,000 bicycles for hire, enabling locals and travellers to navigate the streets. Over 400km of dedicated cycle lanes cross the city, providing ample opportunity to negotiate both tourist hotspots and hidden gems.

Tour the monuments

It wouldn’t be a visit to Paris without seeking out some of the most iconic landmarks in Europe. From the instantly recognisable Eiffel Tower, constructed for the 1889 World Exposition, to the impressive collections housed within the Louvre, Paris offers some of Europe’s most famous attractions. Cycling down the Champs-Élysées and following in the trail of Tour de France cyclists down the ages provides the opportunity to experience the ‘most beautiful avenue in the world’ and approach the renowned Arc de Triomphe, constructed to honour those that died in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

Île de France

The area around Paris offers just as many attractions as the city itself. One of the most popular locations is the palace of Versailles, a lavish residence commissioned by Louis XIV, and the castle and forest at Fontainebleau have been beautifully restored, recreating an opulent picture of 16th century aristocracy. The village of La Roche-Guyon, on the banks of the River Seine, is classified as one of France's most beautiful. Its traditional buildings and 15th century church are worth exploring, and a leisurely boat trip on the river is the perfect way to while away an afternoon.
