St Jean Pied de Port marks the end of this classic trek. From here, pilgrims head south to Roncesvalles and across the Spanish border. The traditional way to enter St Jean is by means of the Porte St Jacques. Hotel Ramuntcho, a logis, offers a warm welcome and is ideally located at the foot of the ramparts. The 16 rooms have been completely renovated and attractively decorated, with fine views towards the mountains and ramparts, or towards the old town.
Breakfasts are a delicious buffet - served either in bedrooms or the attractive dining room. Delicious evening meals are served in the restaurant and make good use of local produce. After dinner, St Jean Pied de Port is a delightful spot for an evening stroll.
