Château de Lavaud Montbron

Château de Lavaud

Lavaud is a 19th century château in 10 acres of park and farmland, bordering the Tardoire river. The château sits a few hundred yards outside the small 12th century town of Montbron, between the regions of Charente and the Périgord.

Each bedroom has a queen or king size bed, its own bathroom with shower and/or bath, and a view of the château’s upper courtyard with its swimming pool, Mediterranean garden and terrace. Internet is available throughout. Common areas exist indoors (with television) and outdoors (at the poolside). Guests also have access to Lavaud’s park, garden, library and cinema room. Breakfast is served indoors or out, depending on the weather.

Although Chateau de Lavaud only offers breakfast, they are happy to organise picnics and dinner on request. They actively promote Charente cuisine, which includes many famous dishes (eg duck, foie gras, truffle) and revolves around fresh local ingredients: vegetables and fruits from the local farmer's market or their own organic garden, mushrooms, nuts and berries from the region, beef from the Limousin, seafood from the nearby coast.

  • All bedrooms are en suite
  • Rooms are within the château's recently renovated 'dependances'
  • Swimming pool
