Starting in the historic port town of Honfleur, walk through verdant countryside visiting Beuvron-en-Auge where you can sample local cider and calvados. Continue to the sombre landing beaches, museums and memorials of World War II, before reaching picturesque Bayeux with its world-famous, 900-year old tapestry. With traditional Norman towns and characterful villages, unique culture and art, and of course, cider and calvados tasting, this holiday has something for everyone.

    Arrive in Honfleur day 1

    Summary

    Honfleur, located on the south bank of the estuary of the Seine river is a gem, brimming with art, culture and history.

    Once a strategic port, it became an important trading harbour in the 16th century. During the 17th century, it was the starting point for many navigators for the new world.

    Loop from Honfleur day 2

    Summary

    Today's loop takes you through the old part of Honfleur and the "Côte de Grace Hill" for a stunning view over the Seine estuary. Atop the hill stands the old chapel "Notre dame de grace" said to protect sailors and fishermen from harsh waters.

    Further west you walk through oak and beech woods before reaching the Village of Pennedepie. The trail takes you to a farm specialized in cider and calvados - of course tasting is recommended! Return to Honfleur.

    Honfleur to Beuvron en Auge day 3

    Summary

    This morning you will be picked up after breakfast. If you would like to buy a picnic lunch, your driver can stop in the market town of Pont L'Evêque.

    You can choose where you start your walk depending on your walking ability. Walk through the pretty Pays d’Auge, through the villages of Bourgeauville and Saint-Pierre des Ifs before heading south to arrive Beuvron-en-Auge.

    We suggest a loop to the village of Cambremer. This little town is at the heart of the “route du Cidre” where cheese and cider makers continue the age-old traditions and offer high quality products. Sample cider and calvados in and around Cambremer. There are also a couple of places for lunch.

    Arromanches to Port en Bessin day 5

    Summary

    Start the day with one hour private transfer to the landing beaches. Start your walk towards Gold beach, there are stunning views over the artificial harbour of Arronmanches. Spend two to three hours exploring the museums, beaches and having lunch before walking west to the German Battery of Longues-sur-mer. Just a short walk from there and you will reach the fishing harbour of Port-en-Bessin.

    Port en Bessin to Bayeux day 7

    Summary

    Leaving the coast, you reach the little-known Aure Valley. Walking south to Tour-en-Bessin, you will discover some stunning old granite manors & farm houses. Continuing your walk, you will stubble across the village of Barbeville before arriving at the former allies headquarters through the commonwealth war memorial. Upon reaching the preserved city of Bayeux, take some time to visit the cathedral and world-famous tapestry.
