Walk through beautiful undulating countryside and past pretty medieval villages as you follow the clear waters of the little River Dronne from Bourdeilles to Champagnac. Two nights staying in the “Venice of Périgord”, Brantôme, allows visits to the ancient abbey of Charlemagne and perhaps an afternoon canoeing. A château hotel, an elegant riverside manoir and an old water mill provide characterful accommodation and gourmet dining.

Arrival Biras day 1
Your holiday begins at the elegant Chateau de la Côte set in a 2-hectare park with magnificent views of the rolling countryside.

Circuit forest walk day 2
Loop walk over rolling hills to the pretty medieval village of Bourdeilles on the River Dronne. After lunch, return along the riverside under impressive overhanging rocks, before climbing gently back to the hotel.
Biras to Brantôme day 3
A cross-country walk with lovely views, through forests and open farmland, to the bustling little town of Brantôme, set on an island in the River Dronne. Your town-centre hotel overlooks one of the main bridges and has a large terrace by the river. The fine restaurant is highly regarded by the locals.

The restaurant at Charbonnel is an established gourmet restaurant and very popular in the region. The dining room has panoramic windows overlooking the river Dronne. The menu is seasonal and the chef resources fresh local and regional produce.
Dinner is included on the first evening and the second evening is booked on a BB basis so that clients can choose their own restaurant from a varied and good choice in the town.
Half day loop walk day 4
Take a pleasant half day walk and then spend time in the fascinating town, visit the abbey and the troglodyte caves or simply wander in the narrow streets with their galleries, shops and bars. Perhaps take a boat ride around the town or hire a canoe for a longer trip down the river. There is much to do before choosing a restaurant of your choice for the second evening at Brantôme.
Friday morning is market day when the streets are taken over by colourful food and clothing stalls.
Brantôme to Champagnac day 5
Follow the river out of Brantôme before heading across country to the village of Champagnac de Belair for your final two nights at the charming 4* Moulin du Roc, a luxuriously converted water mill with a Michelin starred restaurant and heated pool.
Le Moulin du Roc
Authentic, 17th century mill, converted into a charming hotel. The hotel’s fifteen rooms are distributed between the three parts of the Mill and are connected by a merry labyrinth of gangways, terraces and narrow staircases. Every room oozes charm with a blend of period furniture, bare beams and all modern comforts.

Day trip to Villars day 6
A circular walk on forested paths taking in ancient abbey ruins and the impressive Château de Puygilhem, well worth an interior visit, before returning along a river valley to the Moulin du Roc for your final gourmet meal of the week.
