    Château de la Treyne Lacave

Overhanging the Dordogne, the castle (14th and 17th century) combines the authenticity of the past, the stamp of comfort and the highest quality standard of a listed site. The French formal garden is surrounded by 120 hectares of forest. Philippe and Stéphanie Gombert handle the art of living to perfection; rich and refined bedrooms, breakfast in the shade of ancient cedars, dinner in the Louis XIII lounge or on the terrace overlooking the river. This really is a glorious hotel with chateau-living at its best.

    Cuisine

When chef, Stephane Andrieux, was offered the chance to take command of Château de la Treyne kitchens in 1998, he just couldn’t resist the appeal of the ingredients and flavours of home. His cuisine, incorporating the gourmet heritage of Périgord and Quercy, is creative and tremendously enticing.

    • Mallemort asparagus salad
    • Meringued soup with truffle milk
    • Foie gras cooked four ways

  • Service rating : very efficient
Product : exceeded some of our expectations and all went according to plan

    5 out of 5

  • Service rating : All went well and my only concern was that I booked for myself and my husband, and also for our friends in Wales but all the tickets and information came to us even though our friends had paid separately. I had assumed they would get their own tickets so if anything had happened to prevent our going, they would have had all their documents. Perhaps in future Belle France could ask if all the documents should go to I would recommend it. Otherwise everything was well organised and it was a wonderful holiday.
Product : This was a marvelous way to celebrate our Ruby wedding and I would recommend it to anyone. The hotels were splendid, the food superb and the walks a great pleasure.

Belle France Response: So glad that you enjoyed the holiday, we love the hotels on this route and the walk is so varied and beautiful. Shame we did not know that you wanted the pack split and sent to your friends in Wales, we would have been very happy to do so. Next time maybe?
