Recent reviews

  • Service rating : The staff are very friendly, easy to contact and obliging. Lorna did a lot of work to find dates that would work for us to allow us to use a particular ferry route.
Product : The hotels in Dinard and Port de Dinan were both in good locations whereas the one in St Malo was just a little bit far from the old town. However, all were excellent: the staff friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The Royal Emeraude Hotel in Dinard and La Villefromoy in St Malo were particularly good.

The tour is described as a Level 1 but, having recorded over 2000 feet of climbs over the six days, we would disagree. Had we been using bicycles rather than our own recumbent trikes, a fair amount of walking/pushing would have been involved. Apart from some 10 km on the Voie Verte as part of the route from Dinard to St Malo, the route is on roads - some of them quite busy.

The route maps (extracts) were not really sufficiently detailed to inspire confidence for interpretation during a ride. Fortunately, Belle France had provided older, printed, route details in advance that, with the aid of OpenStreetsMaps, had allowed GPS routes to be prepared in advance and loaded on to a Garmin Edge Tour cycling SatNav.

For anyone else contemplating using the St Malo to Portsmouth ferry crossing (8 hours) with a car, we would suggest that it is worth considering motoring to Cherbourg and using the fast ferry (2 hours).
